ThinkDAO is an international organization whose mission is to decentralize access to quality education in the field of STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art & Mathematics). Unfortunately, quality education depends on where you live and how much money you have. The public school system is an outdated system and spends most of their resources on bureaucracy or programs that do no work (this is discussed in greater detail later on). Now more than ever, our students are hurting in the STEAM fields due to the impact COVID had in our public education system and communities. If you support this idea and would like to contribute and in exchange receive governance tokens please click HERE.

What kind of sorcery is a ThinkDAO?

DAO stands for Decentralized Autonomous Organization. This means that people from anywhere in the world can become part of this organization and become an influence on the direction of the organization. The mission of the organization is to decentralize access to quality education in the fields of STEAM.

Why decentralize?

Education is the foundation for success and freedom but it can also be a way to control and limit. Our education system today is not a fair one, those who live in wealthy communities will receive the best education, where poor communities get some of the worst education. Reason is because public education depends on how much property taxes residents pay. Wealthy communities pay higher property taxes and therefore generate more money for their children's education. That is why the best teachers, programs, schools, and after school programs exist in wealthy communities.

Let's be real, when it comes to education our leaders have failed us terribly. In Los Angeles Unified School about 70% of all students k-12 are not meeting the States minimum Math standard. This means that out of every 10 students 7 students are failing Math. This is a huge disadvantage for our country and it creates a disproportion of intellectuals and increases ignorance in our community.

At ThinkDAO, our goal is to provide students with a high quality and efficient education in the STEAM field to inspire students to be anything they want to be. We need Engineers, programmers, physicists, mathematicians, scientists, and astrophysicists just to name a few.

ThinkDAO’s Roadmap

ThinkB4YouSolve

ThinkBYS Phase 1: Create a Token for decentralized governance of ThinkDAO

Primary goal is to obtain capital to fund this project. We need $500,000 to start the project, purchase equipment, and have it fully functioning for the first year. This will cover all costs to operate the project and pay staff. Click the links below for more information about the program:

In order to be a DAO, we need a governance token for decision making. There is no expectation of profit with this token, this token’s purpose is to coordinate our governance.

It is very important to note that the team has not reserved any tokens for ourselves. We have not given “special terms” to any Venture Capitalists, Influencers, Angel Investors, Rich Friends or Family, or any other person. We are all being treated equally.

Every investor, builder, or fren, big or small, has gotten the same terms. No special treatment for anyone. This is unusual for an Ethereum project, but we thought it would be fair because education should not be decided by the rich or wealthy but should be decided as a collective uniform organization. Who wouldn’t want quality education for all students?

What are the properties of this token?

Our token will have a fixed supply. Once our initial token raise is over, we will never increase the supply of the tokens.

Our token will be used for governance decisions. We will have proportional governance up to a community decided limit. The limit is needed so that if one person buys more than 51% of the tokens they cannot centrally control the DAO’s decisions. To begin, we will use a 10% limit of the total coin supply, however anyone is welcome to purchase more than 10% if they would like to contribute more.

The money raised from this token will fund the workers (Operational costs, instructors, special guests/speakers, NFT designers, website developers, solidity developers, marketing, legal consulting, etc.) needed to complete the rest of the roadmap.

The token raise will occur on juicebox.money, and for every contribution we will create governance tokens at a fixed rate. You will receive a portion of those tokens in your wallet, and then some will stay with the DAO in order to fund the work required to make this DAO function, and those tokens will form part of the shared treasury that you can vote on with your tokens.

There is no expectation of profit with this token. It is a governance token. You are not receiving fractionalized ownership of the DAOs assets in exchange for the token.

ThinkBYS Phase 2: Open the first after school program fully operational with two large classrooms, one large multipurpose area, a kitchen for snacks, an office and an open area for hands-on projects. The first curriculum that will be taught will be a Math Curriculum. This curriculum consists of 5 courses: Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Algebra 2, & Trigonometry. Once this project begins operation we can decide on what other courses to offer (physics, chemistry, computer science, art, or related to STEAM).

We will release the Think!BYS NFT collection. The money raised from the sale of these NFTs will be used to fund the tuition fees for all the students. The goal is to provide this service for free to all students and in return students can learn about web3, crypto, blockchain, juicebox and create a presentation on their understanding of it.

We will also have pictures of all the investors of their personal NFTs or their unique profile hung inside to give credit to all those who helped fund the project.

How much will it cost?

This is easy to figure out because the cost will not fluctuate since the costs for operational costs are fixed (office space, utilities, students tuition, staff salary, supplies, etc.). The costs that can fluctuate will be when deciding what type of projects students will participate in. The larger the project the more costly it will be. An example would be a simple kiwico project where each kiwico costs $80.00 or a lego mindstorm project that can cost anywhere from $150-$400. We will also purchase laptops so students can use them to do research, homework, and of course learn how to program!

ThinkBYS Phase 3: Open up more after school programs across the country, hire well qualified teachers or professors, and do outreach for donations or contributors.

Let's be real, teachers have been underappreciated and poorly compensated for the work they do. A teacher is one of the most important professions in the world because they are responsible for educating the youth. This project is intended to pay the teachers very well so they can focus on providing their highest teaching skills to students and not worry about paying their rent or basic necessities.

New locations will be based on communities where students are performing the lowest. This is easy to know because each state publishes an annual report that shows which schools are performing the worst based on the state test it conducts in Math every year. Just like in Mario Kart, if you are in first place you will only receive a lousy banana or green shell and if you are in last place you receive the purple shell or unlimited boost for a few seconds. This gives the person in last place a fighting chance to catch up to first place and keeps the one in first place focused.

ThinkBYS Phase 4: Add an online learning component to the program.

Online learning has no boundaries and can reach many individuals across the world in seconds. This phase will work on recruiting a team that will be able to create an online learning program of the curriculum and presenters.

ThinkBYS Phase 5: Improve the communities where the schools are located by awarding student with scholarships for college, supporting local groups and influence local government to approve laws that will benefit the lives of students in their communities,

We will always continue to find ways to create a better environment, community and quality of life for our students and the communities we serve. College should not be a burden for our students because of a financial reason. Education is a right and investing in higher education for students will have a major impact in the community they will serve. Education in STEAM has the power to transform individuals to become conscious and aware of our existence. It will influence them to strive to create a better world.

Final Thoughts:

There has never been a time where our world was connected as it is today. The creation of the internet has connected people and industries to share and create. Mathematics is the fundamental tool that helped achieve this. Web3, Blockchain, and cryptocurrency has opened up a brand new door to a world that is more transparent and secure. Many people have their doubts and some are against this new way of communicating. Some even say it is only a hype and it will eventually die because it isn't real. I beg to disagree, like any new idea that threatens the ideas already accepted and established in our society there will be pushback by those that don't want change. So what better way to show the world that this new idea can have major impacts everywhere. Imagine how crazy it would be that this new idea can have major impacts in our education. Education is one of our most fragile systems yet the most powerful tool to improve entire societies. The fact that an idea that's considered unreal can effectively affect our real world is a huge win.
